While the German forces had dangerous Tigers and Panthers on the battlefield, by the end of the conflict the British had a capable answer: the Comet. With a hull based on that of the Cromwell and a new, larger turret for the Q.F. 77mm gun, it was indeed a formidable opponent. Comets participated in the Allied crossing of the Rhine in March 1945 and provided vital supporting fire for the infantry; crews were reportedly pleased with the balance of firepower, survivability and mobility it provided.

The A34 Cruiser Comet is a tank of British origin, delivered beginning in September 1944 (toward the end of World War II) and in service in England until 1958. The Comet was the successor to the Cromwell and belonged to the series of Cruiser tanks.

The Comet made the Challenger obsolete and provided the development of the Centurion tank. The new 77 mm HV gun was mounted in a lower profile and a new turret. The new gun was effective against the Panther at medium range and sometimes against the Tiger 1 at close range. Due to lack of money, they tried to use as many parts of the Mk VI Crusader as possible. There were 1186 Comets made.

The model:
This is a 1/35 scale plastic model kit. Length: 219mm, width: 88mm. Extensive study of full-size Comets underlies this accurate representation of the boxy hull with larger turret and 77mm gun. Cast metal armor surfaces on the fuselage and turret are realistically rendered, as is the shape of the canvas gun shield. Assembly type tracks use straight one-piece sections. Choose between connected or separated exhaust pipe which was called a "Norman hood." A transparent section is used to recreate the searchlight lens. Comes with two crew members in winter gear, with two vehicle marking options also included in the kit.
