Stingray is a British science fiction television series for young people created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson (creators of the Thunderbirds) and produced by AP Films (APF) for ITC Entertainment. The series was filmed in 1963 using a combination of electronic marionette puppets and special effects from scale models. It was APF's sixth puppet series and the third produced under the banner "Supermarionation". The series premiered in October 1964 and consisted of 39 half-hour episodes.

The Stingray, the flagship of the World Aquanaut Security Patrol (WASP), was a famous combat submarine piloted by Captain Troy Tempest and his hydrophone operator Lieutenant George Lee Sheridan, also known as 'Phones'.

Considered the most advanced submarine of the 2060s, the ship was central to the WASP's discovery of many advanced undersea civilisations, including the city of Titanica, ruled by the despotic King Titan and his warlike minions, the Aquaphibians.
