Don't panic! Walmington-on-Sea's beloved but clumsy platoon protected England's Second World War front line 
with nine series of classic British television comedy.  

One of the most useful tools Captain Mainwaring had at his disposal was Corporal Jones' Thornycroft delivery truck, adapted from its usual use as a butcher's van now to carry the platoon on manoeuvres.  

With the addition of opening embrasures so the men could deploy their rifles while remaining in 
while remaining in relative safety, the vehicle enhanced the platoon's range during many of their external training missions.
