One of the most important aircraft in the history of British aviation, the Hawker P.1127 and the Hawker Siddeley Kestrel FGA.1 are the British experimental and development aircraft that led to the Hawker Siddeley Harrier, the first vertical and/or short take-off and landing (V/STOL) jet bomber, the aircraft that introduced the incredible Bristol Pegasus thrust jet engine to the world of aviation. Six aircraft were produced, but three were lost to accidents, underlining the pioneering nature of this test programme.
