The Hampden was undoubtedly one of the most distinctive British aircraft of World War II. It was an impressively manoeuvrable medium-sized bomber that saw much service during the early stages of the war. Its narrow fuselage of 3 feet wide (about 91.44 cm) earned it the nickname ‘flying suitcase’. It was used during the RAF's first bombing raid on Berlin in August 1940.
